Thing #3 How can a blog be useful for a classrom?

I really do not feel that a blog can do much actually inside the classroom for students. However, outside it can be an extremely powerful source of information and organization for students. I envision using a blog to help students on a daily basis in a variety of situations. Did you assign homework for the night? Post on your blog what it is and when it is due. Are your students leaving comments between each other about how hard the assignment is? Update the blog with helpful information or hints to guide them in being successful on the assignment. I remember when I was in high school many teachers having websites for themselves that had a little bit of biographical information and maybe some course information, although it was rare. In this manner, I envision a blog being an extension of this and being a tool to communicate with students outside the classroom.
